My Story

Background and Philosophy

How does a Nebraska farm boy end up owning a real estate office? Raised on a dairy farm, Alan learned the value of hard work from his father, who always said, "Nothing is achieved without hard work." This philosophy became Alan's foundation, guiding him through life and shaping his ability to navigate difficult transactions while ensuring deals work for both buyers and sellers. After 30 plus years in real estate, including seven years managing someone else’s office, Alan decided it was time to cultivate new roots—drawing from his farming mentality—and founded Windermere/Sandy Real Estate.

In the fall of 2024, Alan embarked on yet another exciting adventure, starting Exclusive Homes. This new venture reflects his desire to grow something of his own while continuing to serve his community with the same dedication and expertise.

Experience

Alan’s diverse experience spans multiple industries. He has farmed, worked in construction, and even remodeled homes. He started a construction company, building custom and spec homes, giving him an in-depth understanding of homes from the ground up. With a sharp sense of humor and a knack for handling every aspect of real estate, Alan brings both expertise and a lighthearted touch to his work.

Hobbies and Community Involvement

A long-time resident of Sandy, Oregon, since the age of nine, Alan enjoys traveling, golfing, and working on his property. A committed community member, he has been deeply involved in local affairs and is proud to call Sandy his home. Alan has been a part of the real estate world since 1973 and owned the Sandy Windermere office since 1995, before venturing out on his own with Exclusive Homes.
